Before we define the process on how to write a good short story let us define exactly what a short story is. A short story is much more concise compared to a novel. It contains much less characters associated chiefly with the main plot. The main plot is going to be the only exercises for concentration improvement which will be available in the short story. A short story seldom has room for a story line other than the main plot. The introduction and the conclusion of the main plot need to be greatly compressed in the contents of the short story. The major portion of the short story will be based on the main body of the composition. The length of the short story depends greatly on the institute which is assigning the project but it is often between the ranges of 1,000 to 20,000 words.
When we talk about how to write short stories, the first thing that comes to mind is the association of creative writing thoughts in the introduction. The introduction should provide a lot of information without sounding like an encyclopedia. It should also develop a sense of intrigue or suspense within the reader’s mind to want to continue reading the rest of the story. The introduction is where you will introduce the characters involved in the parable. You can choose to introduce the main character first or you could choose to introduce secondary characters first to maintain excitement and thrill within your composition. Always compose an outline before actually beginning the introduction. Following the outline will lead to a more comprehensive formation of a story line. From the outline you should easily be able to determine the series of events which will take place in the introduction, main body and conclusion of the manuscript.

There might be some parts of the story which the reader may still not be able to understand, the conclusion should provide the required insight to all the loose ends. There might be parts of the conclusion which the reader may not fully understand reading it the first time only to find enlightenment after reading it a second time. The complete short story should ideally be composed in the same narrative voice from the beginning to the end. Decide whether you want to write in the first person, second person or third person at the beginning of the writing. Maintain the same narrative voice throughout the composition.
